Needmore Coffee Roasters was started as a home-based business in June, 2014. The name Needmore comes from Needmore Elementary School in Springville, Northern Lawrence County, Indiana where owner, Katie Mysliwiec, has fond memories of attending school as a child.
Katie started out with a simple one-pound, electric roaster. Initially, most sales were made at the Miller Beach Farmers Market in Gary, IN, and the Valparaiso Farmers Market in Valparaiso, IN.
September 2014 the business moved to Chesterton, IN and production was increased thanks to a three-pound roaster built by Katie’s father, Lee Mysliwiec.
By February, 2015 Katie was able to purchase a brand new three-kilo drum roaster built in Oklahoma City by US Roaster Corp. Installing this new machine meant moving, again. Thankfully the folks from a local food truck business welcomed having a coffee roaster in their shop.
Freshly roasted coffee by Needmore Coffee Roasters is now being served in local restaurants and is available for sale in local shops. There is also a Needmore Coffee Roasters booth each Saturday (May-October) at Chesterton’s European Market. Products available include bags of whole bean and ground coffee, cold brewed coffee (iced and bottled), and hot coffee brewed using a variety of methods.
