The Co-Op

Triunfo Verde Co-op

The Story

The Triunfo Verde Cooperative is a group of 448 small coffee producers, half are women, who use organic farming methods to promote the conservation and recovery of natural resources. By farming in the buffer zone of El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve and selling their coffee at a fair price, these producers are able to improve living conditions for the organization’s members and produce a quality product without harming the environment. Their coffee is shade-grown, requires no chemical fertilizers, and creates biological corridors in order to facilitate bird and animal migration. They promote autonomy, gender equality, and freedom of expression among its members, fostering a coffee production culture that is committed to both environmental sustainability and social justice.
